Architecture Day in Šediviny with Jolana Havelková and Vladimír Homolka
A screening followed by a lecture will introduce former isolated homesteads and villages, sunken lanes and small traces in the landscape that Jolana Havelková mapped and photographed over the course of a year while travelling through the Orlické Mountains, from Olešnice and Zemská brána to Nebeská Rybná. Regional researcher and documentarian Vladimír Homolka will present pilgrimage sites in the Orlické Mountains and the architecture that developed around them over the centuries. Drawing on historical photographs, postcards and his own long-term research, he will explore chapels, churches, crosses and other small sacred structures as integral parts of the landscape, its routes and the life of mountain communities. The lecture will focus not only on surviving sites, but also on places that have changed or disappeared as a result of the region’s historical development and shifts in settlement across the Orlické Mountains.
