15:30 Sikoqqinngisaannassooq
Everyday life, culture, and traditions of the Greenlandic Inuit community are under threat from melting ice, a direct result of global warming. As glaciers disappear, so do opportunities for fishing, hunting, and social gatherings, since the frozen sea serves as the main route for dog sleds and snowmobiles. At the rate at which our planet is warming, snow and Greenland’s icy landscapes may become a thing of the past, along with the traditional way of life beyond the Arctic Circle. The future of the current Inuit generation is as fragile as the layer of ice that may soon disappear beneath rising sea levels.
16:00 Resilience
Humans can act as nature’s defenders or as an invasive species. While conservationist Pavel strives to ease environmental anxiety and become one with the land, Klára is hot on the trail of a bird poisoner. Although they never cross paths, together they weave a tale of the fight to preserve the beauty of Czech nature. With Pavel, we can philosophize, mow meadows, and plant trees, while the pragmatically determined Klára takes the audience on a detective-like journey, accompanied by her two loyal canines. Both storylines are elegantly interwoven, with a strong emphasis on audiovisual elements. These are designed to engage not only the intellect, through openly articulated environmental themes, but above all the senses, on par with a full sensory experience. The resonant sound design and brilliant cinematography invite viewers to immerse themselves in nature in a way unprecedented in Czech documentary filmmaking.

Through her music and public performances, she exposes the alarming state of girls’ and women’s rights in a country where they are expected to sit quietly in the corner. When nineteen-year-old Zere Asylbek releases a provocative music video demanding respect for those long disadvantaged by local culture, it sparks a fierce backlash in conservative Kyrgyzstan. The film follows her journey from pop singer to outspoken civic activist in a country where bride kidnappings, domestic violence, and the social silencing of half the population remain all too real. Zere faces threats, public shaming, and accusations that she seeks to destroy “traditional values” and serve foreign interests. Yet she refuses to stay silent. This intimate documentary captures the collision of personal courage with a repressive system, showing how music can create space for social change in a fragile
