If you want to grow as much of your own vegetables, fruit and herbs as possible — despite frost, wind and a short summer — your garden and growing methods need to adapt to the climate. This workshop will guide you through permaculture principles that work precisely where things are not easy.

The workshop includes a short lecture, a practical outdoor session on an open meadow, and a plan for diverse beds that are naturally protected and productive even during a short mountain growing season. We will also touch on edible and ornamental shrubs suited to local conditions. Every participant will take home their own personalised bed plan.

Katka Špačková

An enthusiastic gardener, lecturer and designer of edible, natural, permacultural and sustainable gardens.

She helps enthusiastic and beginner gardeners transform their patch of Earth into an edible paradise. She sees a garden not merely as a space around the house, but as a living ecosystem. Her goal is to turn dull garden deserts into oases full of life, food and joy. She teaches how — through connection with natural principles — you can grow vegetables, fruit and herbs simply, ecologically, without unnecessary chemicals and without digging.

She studied permaculture design by distance learning in Australia, directly under Geoff Lawton. She works in garden design, leads workshops and offers consultations.
