Šimanský Niesner
The guitar duo Jakub Šimanský and Tomáš Niesner debuted together with the album Tance neznámé (Dances Unknown), released on the Stoned to Death label in 2019. Both musicians share nearly a decade of experience in the noise-rock band Unna.
In 2016, Šimanský began his solo career with the album Face to Face Against American Primitivism in Eastern Europe Vol. I. Soon after, he and Niesner transformed their long-standing musical connection into a joint project, working on their first collaborative record. Its release was followed by intensive touring and the writing of new material.
Their music is characterized by stylistic diversity and a distinctive approach to tuning, rhythm, and mantra-like repetition, combined with a strong sense for captivating melodies. In this way, the duo draws on the tradition of American Primitivism, Czech folk music, and influences from Eastern musical traditions.
In 2020, one of their compositions appeared on the compilation Imaginational Anthem Vol. X released by the American label Tompkins Square. Šimanský and Niesner later released their second full-length album Všechno Dobré (All the Best). Their latest album, Jako doma (Like at Home), was released in September 2023.
